Vertigo & Dizziness

Vertigo and persistent dizziness aren’t random or mysterious they’re usually signs that the brain isn’t integrating sensory input appropriately or there are imbalances in the body impacting brain function. These symptoms often come from issues in the inner ear, visual–vestibular pathways, cervical (neck) proprioception, autonomic function, or post-concussion patterns not from “anxiety” or aging. Once the source is mapped clearly, most dizziness conditions improve with the right mix of vestibular rehab, oculomotor training, positional maneuvers, autonomic stabilization, and targeted lifestyle changes.

The goal: restore steadiness, confidence, and predictability so you can move through life without fear of spinning, swaying, or sudden imbalance.

Does This Sound Like You?

  • Spinning or swaying when rolling in bed, looking up, or turning quickly
  • A “sea-legs” feeling, especially in grocery stores, big-box stores, or while scrolling on screens
  • Head pressure, motion sickness, nausea, sound/light sensitivity, or brain fog
  • Lightheadedness when standing, heat intolerance, palpitations, or episodes of “air hunger”
  • Symptoms worsening with busy environments, movement, or screens
  • Normal scans or labs, yet daily life still feels unstable
  • A concussion, viral illness, migraine, neck injury, or period of high stress preceded your symptoms

If this describes you, we can pinpoint the driver and create a plan that steadies your system.

What Actually Drives Vertigo & Dizziness

Vertigo and dizziness are symptoms not diagnoses. Below are the most common drivers we see:

1. BPPV (Inner-Ear Crystals Out of Place)

Brief, position-triggered spinning when lying back, rolling in bed, or looking up. Typically improves rapidly once the crystals are repositioned.

2. Vestibular Neuritis or Labyrinthitis

Acute vertigo triggered by an infection followed by lingering imbalance, motion sensitivity, and visual strain. Vision–vestibular rehab accelerates recovery.

3. Vestibular Migraine

Dizziness with or without headache. Symptoms often worsen with visual motion, scrolling, lights, or fatigue. Requires neurological + metabolic support.

4. PPPD (Persistent Postural-Perceptual Dizziness)

A chronic rocking or tilting sensation, especially in visually busy environments. Rooted in sensory mismatch, autonomic dysregulation, and past vertigo events. Normally neurological testing will be normal.

5. Cervicogenic Dizziness

Neck strain, whiplash, or poor proprioceptive input can disrupt balance and spatial awareness. Common after car accidents, falls, or recreational activities.

6. Autonomic Dysfunction / POTS

Lightheadedness when standing, tachycardia, heat intolerance, fatigue, and exercise intolerance indicate impaired autonomic regulation not just vertigo.

7. Post-Concussion Visual–Vestibular Dysfunction

Even with “normal imaging,” visual tracking, gaze stability, and vestibular integration can remain impaired, causing dizziness, fog, and motion sensitivity.

How We Evaluate Vertigo & Dizziness

Functional Neuro + Autonomic Testing

We perform positional maneuvers, assess eye movements, evaluate vestibular function, analyze balance and gait, and measure autonomic function to identify the exact driver.

Sleep & Daily Rhythm Review

Sleep and circadian disruption can worsen dizziness, motion sensitivity, and autonomic instability. Alignment improves resilience.

In-Depth Labs + Specialty Testing (Only When Indicated)

We test metabolic health, hormones, nutrients, and inflammation when they influence recovery potential. Specialty labs are ordered only when clinically necessary.

Report of Findings

You get a clear explanation of what’s causing your symptoms, how your systems interact, and the most effective plan to resolve dizziness and restore steadiness.

Vertigo & Dizziness

Your Personalized Care Path

Your treatment is built entirely from your evaluation not a generic vestibular protocol. Most patients fall into one of three care paths:

Neurology-Only Path

Best when symptoms stem primarily from vestibular, oculomotor, or autonomic factors.

We use:

  • Repositioning maneuvers for BPPV
  • Gaze-stabilization and visual-motion desensitization
  • Vestibular and balance training
  • Cervical proprioceptive rehab
  • Autonomic retraining for orthostatic intolerance
  • Dual-task drills (movement + cognition)
  • Sub-symptom exercise progression

This retrains the systems that keep you balanced and oriented in space.

Functional-Medicine-Only Path

Ideal when internal load is driving sensitivity, fatigue, or autonomic symptoms.

We support:

  • Sleep and circadian timing
  • Nutrient deficiencies (iron, B-vitamins, vitamin D, magnesium)
  • Blood sugar stability
  • Hormonal and thyroid patterns
  • Gut and immune contributions
  • Hydration, electrolytes, and salt strategies for POTS-like symptoms

This reduces internal stress so your system can stabilize.

Combined Brain-Body Path (Most Common)

The most comprehensive approach.

We blend:

  • Vestibular and oculomotor rehab
  • Autonomic stabilization
  • Cervical and proprioceptive retraining
  • Metabolic and inflammatory support
  • Pacing strategies and graduated exposure
  • Sleep and rhythm optimization

This helps you rebuild steadiness quickly and maintain it long-term.

Vertigo & Dizziness

What Makes Our Vertigo & Dizziness Care Different

Dual Expertise, One Location

Functional Neurology + Functional Medicine from a provider with a medical degree an uncommon combination so both neural and metabolic contributors are addressed together.

Objective Mapping, Not Guesswork

We use positional testing, eye-movement measures, vestibular reflexes, balance metrics, orthostatic vitals, and HRV data with periodic re-testing to track improvement.

Clear Milestones and Realistic Progression

You’ll know what success looks like at 4, 8, and 12+ weeks, with a roadmap to prevent relapse.

Safety

We never push you beyond your symptom threshold. All care is paced to stay below your irritability level to avoid overwhelm or crashes. We also screen for red flags (stroke-like symptoms, sustained vomiting, new hearing loss with facial weakness, progressively worsening neurological deficits) and coordinate urgent care when indicated.

Medications and supplements are reviewed for safety, dosing, and compatibility with your goals.

FAQs

Why do crowded stores or scrolling make me worse?

That’s visual-motion sensitivity from a mismatch between your visual, vestibular, and proprioceptive systems. We rebuild tolerance with graded, targeted drills.

Yes, when done correctly. We use sub-symptom aerobic work and gradually raise your capacity without triggering crashes.

  • BPPV: often improves immediately after repositioning
  • Vestibular neuritis, VM, PPPD: typically 2-6 weeks for meaningful gains
  • Complex cases: 8–16+ weeks depending on drivers

Yes. Many assessments and drills can be done virtually. Some positional tests and treatments are clinic-only. We’ll advise you during your consultation.

How Care Works

Step 1 – Discovery Call or Strategy Consult
A brief fit check and a conversation about your health history, symptoms, and questions to allow us to identify which assessment will help you find answers and solutions.

Step 2 – Precision Evaluation
Functional neurology + autonomic testing, in-depth labs, and a complete brain-body assessment.

Step 3 – Report of Findings
A clear, plain-English explanation of what’s driving your symptoms and the exact plan to improve them.
